AppArt is extending its R&D activities by its participation in 5G-DATA project, a project funded by Business Innovation Greece programme, which is financed by the EEA Grants and is being managed by Innovation Norway. Business Innovation Greece is a programme that aims to increase value creation and sustainable growth in the Greek business sector in general.

5G-DATA commenced on September 1^st, 2020 and AppArt has undertaken the execution of the project by its own capacity! The experience that AppArt has obtained and its related skills in relation to the implementation of 5G technology projects, is the most reliable criterion for the successful completion of 5G-DATA.

5G-DATA aims to develop a solution that optimizes the management of streaming sequences of values over time -commonly referred to as time-series data- and eases the task of fetching, maintaining and utilizing network information in the control plane of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) architecture. The increasing amount of time-series data being produced from Internet of Things (IoT) devices, sensors deployed to monitor industrial systems, and scientific experiments, has led to the development of specialized time-series database systems. However, several design principles of time-series databases do not apply in the context of SDN architectures.

The main novelty of 5G-DATA is the use of sophisticated data selection, compression and transmission techniques, custom made for the properties of network information data, that will lead to the minimization of the needed resources for monitoring in terms of bandwidth, storage and computation.
