AppArt is pleased to announce its participation in 5GMediaHUB, a 5G-PPP Phase 3b project, in the frames of Horizon 2020 Program, which commenced in January 2021. 5GMediaHUB is implemented by a Consortium of 17 research, technology and media partners, coordinated by CCTC (Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya).

5GMediaHUB aims to be the main pillar for EU to achieve the goal of becoming a global leader in 5G, by accelerating the testing and validation of innovative 5G-empowered media applications and NetApps from 3rd party experimenters and NetApps developers, through an open, integrated and fully featured Experimentation Facility. This will significantly reduce not only the service creation lifecycle but also the time to market barrier, thus giving such actors that are coming mainly from SMEs, a significant advantage against competition from non-EU countries. In particular, 5GMediaHUB aims to create and operate a flexible, secure and trusted multi-tenant service execution and NetApps development environment based on an open cloud-based architecture and APIs, by developing and integrating a testing and validation system with two existing well-established 5G testbeds (by CTTC and 5G-VIVVI by Telenor) for enabling the fast prototyping, testing and validation of novel 5G services and NetApps.

In short, within the frames of the project, AppArt will lead the activities related to the architecture design and technical specifications definition, with the objective to create the detailed, low-level design of 5GMediaHUB Experimentation Facility architecture and its technical specifications. AppArt will, also, participate in the activities related to the experimenters’ portal & user management development and in the test planning & Definition Engine development as well as in the activities related to Validation Testing & Certification Engine development. Furthermore, AppArt will lead the activities of the entire Work Package dedicated to the integration, deployment and dry-run testing of the Experimentation Facility components.

AppArt will utilize the outcomes of the project in order to enhance its knowledge and skills in specialized aspects of 5G domain and, then, be able to apply its experience in existing or new solutions, targeting at gaining significant competitive advantage and grow further its activities.
