A high-level European Policy Summit

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN:
More than traditional conferences, Friends of Europe’s Energy Summits represent platforms for lively and interactive debates where stakeholders are encouraged to discuss with each other and react to the questions of an expert and select audience.

More than traditional conferences, Energy Summits represent platforms for debates where stakeholders are encouraged to discuss with each other and react to the questions of an expert and select audience.

The event will gather some 250 key stakeholders, including EU and national policymakers, business and and industry representatives as well as social partners, leading academics and members of the international press. The summit will be held in Brussels on Wednesday, 23 November from 9.30 to 15.30.


UNDER DISCUSSION:

The Arab Spring, the Eurozone crisis, Fukushima and rising energy prices have greatly changed the outlook for Europe's transition to a low-carbon energy system. The Summit will also include a session on the latest World Energy Outlook. Some questions addressed at the Summit will include:

  • What will be the new trends identified in the International Energy Agency's World Energy Outlook 2011?
  • Will there be a "Golden Age of Gas" in Europe and what is the vision of the European Commission for Europe's long-term energy future as presented in its Energy Roadmap 2050 foreseen for November?
