EUROCITIES in cooperation with the City of Lyon and the French EU presidency are organising an event on Climate Change on 27 October 2008. This meeting will be the opportunity for stakeholders from the European, the national and the local levels to discuss the issue of Climate Change and highlight the role of cities in fighting its effects.

The event will also be the occasion for the official signing of the EUROCITIES Declaration on Climate Change by EUROCITIES Mayors. The declaration underlines the crucial role of cities in the fight against climate change and calls for an integrated approach of all public policies at the city level.

The French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Planning will attend the event, to discuss with EUROCITIES Mayors and representatives of the European Commission how to work together on this issue.
